The Best Gym Hairstyles
Braided Ponytail We love this workout hairstyle because it pulls hair out of the way without placing any stress on your locks. To style, brush hair back, tie into a high ponytail at the crown of your head. Then divide hair into three equal sections. Braid the entire length of the ponytail and fasten the end with a small hair tie. Fishtail braid
Tired of the same old braid? Give a fishtail braid a shot. This braid looks far more difficult than it actually is. Divide hair into two sections and then braid, wrapping a very small piece from the outside of one section underneath to the bottom of the next. Repeat down the length of your hair and secure with a small hair tie.
Low, Slicked-Back Bun
This is one of the best gym hairstyles because it works with sweaty hair to give you a sleek, trendy look. Part hair on the side then slick back and pin into a bun at the nape of your neck. Smooth any flyaways with gel.
French Braid
We like this workout hairstyle because it holds every single hair in place to prevent sweat-induced flyaways. Begin with three small sections of hair at the top of your head and braid each together once. Then add a little bit more hair to each section from either side and braid again. Continue the process until all hair has been braided, then secure with a small hair tie. Since this look can expose thin areas, spray a little Toppik Hair Building Fibers into sparse spots along the part line to cover excess scalp show-through. Then finish with Toppik FiberHold Spray for extra staying power. Hair Building Fibers are resistant to sweat and other moisture, to last longer through workouts and post-gym plans.
Dutch Braid
If you’ve mastered the French braid, it’s time to give a Dutch braid a try! This is that raised French braid you see all over Instagram. This style is done a lot like a French braid. But for a Dutch braid, cross the hair under the other sections instead of over.
Bubble Ponytail
This gym hairstyle is often spotted on the tennis court — and for good reason. The bubble ponytail looks great and it prevents tangles. Pull hair back into a sleek high ponytail and fasten with a hair tie. Gently comb through ponytail to remove all tangles. Next, add another hair tie 3 inches below the first one. Gently loosen the hair between the ties to create the “bubble” effect. Repeat until you reach the end of the ponytail.
The Tiered Ponytail
This oldie-but-goodie keeps hair safely tucked away during cardio sessions but elevates that same old ponytail. To create this look at home, start by sectioning the top layer of hair (everything above the temples) and make a small ponytail at the crown. Section hair at ear level and make another ponytail, then gather the remaining hair and secure with another hair tie.

Pigtail Buns
We love this style because it works for hair that’s not quite long enough for a ponytail. Part hair in the middle and secure the two sections with hair ties. Twist one section into a bun, then secure with bobby pins. Repeat on the other side. Tip: Make the buns look slightly messy to keep this childhood style effortlessly grown-up and chic.
